Welcome to our fishing association

Kusträsk fiskevårdsförening was founded in 1950s and aimed to give Swedish armed forces employees in Boden good opportunities for close fishing in a lake with fresh and healthy water. Nowadays, the area's cabin owners and other fishing enthusiasts can become members, buy fishing licenses, and borrow a boat.

You can easily redeem a fishing license by swishing to 12345 00 252. If you do not have the opportunity to pay with swish, contact the management board well in advance. You can see our email further down.

Our fish species: Pike

Pike is the lake's top predator and is important for keeping a good balance in the lake between other fish species and the health of the water. The fish can be eaten but requires skill to fillet as it contains a lot of bones. The fish is exciting when it takes the bait as the attack takes place at almost 100 kilometers per hour and with some practice you can also make it take baits at the water's surface. Pike is preferably fished with a casting rod. Normal catch size is between one kilogram and six kilograms, but with a little patience there are even larger sizes

Our fish species: Perch

The perch is classified as a good fish to eat. The perch hunts in shoals. Large perch eat roach and other smaller species of fish while small perch may be exposed to competition from these. The classic roles can even be reversed when zooplankton-eating prey fish eat up the fry for the predatory fish. The perch can be fished with both a casting rod or a fishing rod under more relaxing forms.

Our fish species: Roach

The roach is a freshwater and brackish-water fish in the family Cyprinidae. The roach is one of Sweden's most common freshwater fish. It can be found all over the country. As a rule, the roach lives on the edge of the lake, but if the water is cloudy, they can also stay further out from the shore. The roach is normally a small fish that usually grows no more than about 20 cm long, but it can grow up to 50 cm. It usually weighs no more than half a kilogram. In Sweden, however, roach is no longer among the more appreciated food fish (unlike Eastern Europe, among others), but it is important as food for predatory fish such as pike. The easiest way to take the fish is with a fishing rod. In our fishing lake, we have an overrepresentation of roach. The risk with this is that the water quality becomes worse when the roach eats up the carnivorous plankton, which creates a preponderance of phytoplankton.
